Machete Producciones is a film company born with the objective of creating Mexican films with international projection; from unconventional angles we create stories for the collective memory of audiences, taking on different film genders.
Our vision is to bring together both artistic and technical talent, founded by Edher Campos, Luis Salinas, Rodrigo Bello Noble and actress Teresa Ruiz. We held the conceptual and creative integrity of our projects are as a priority.
With in their first year, Machete produces Año Bisiesto (Leap Year) by director Michael Rowe, receiving excellent reviews at the Cannes Film Festival 2010, where for the first time, a Mexican film receives the Camera D’Or at the festival. The film is later distributed in more than 36 countries and in 2011 the Mexican Academy of Arts and Film Science: Arieles awards the film with Best First Feature and Best Actress (Monica Del Carmen).
By the end of 2010 Machete begins production of their second film Nos Vemos, Papá (See you, Dad), by director Lucía Carreras, staring the Emmy nominated actress Cecilia Suarez. This intimate drama, touches a modern day Electra Complex, where desire and loneliness come together as a consequences of loosing a loved one.
Currently Machete is developing two feature films: La Jaula de Oro (The Golden Cage) by director Diego Quemada-Diez, a story of two teenagers crossing a cruel country in search of a better life beyond the Mexican border, and, La Habitación (The Room), tells the story of a small space where different events take place threw out 100 years of Mexican history, tolled threw the vision of eight different Mexican film makers.
